SEE is a network of eleven European partners engaging with national and regional governments to integrate design into innovation policy. Our activities include two conferences; four thematic workshops involving partners and policy-makers; a study visit; a library of case studies as well as a library of research and policy documents; four Policy Booklets; an internal contacts database and the biannual SEE bulletin. SEE is operating from September 2008 to June 2011, co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund through the INTERREG IVC programme.

The SEE bulletins are the only publications entirely dedicated to discussing matters related to design and innovation policies and are distributed to over 60 countries around the world. Issues include:
Research: from academics in the field;
Interviews: from all over the globe presented in the Design Policy & Promotion Map;
Special Report: on conferences and events;
Policy in Practice: updates on EU innovation policy developments;
Case Studies: good practice on design policies, programmes, tools and strategies;
SEE Library: resources on design and innovation for practitioners, researchers and policy-makers.

The SEE Policy Booklets outline the rationale behind policy intervention in specific domains, explore the role of design in that context, provide illustrative case studies and put forward policy proposals. These publications are targeted at government representatives and policy-makers at regional/national level in the SEE partner countries.

SEE Policy Booklet 1: Integrating Design into Regional Innovation Policy (November 2009)

SEE Policy Booklet 2: Realising Sustainability & Innovation through Design: Making it Happen in Communities, Industry, Public Sector & Policy-Making (May 2010)

Following the good feedback from the second SEE bulletin we have made the Design Policy & Promotion Map available online. To get a global perspective on the growing number and increasing maturity of design policies and promotion programmes this map presents statements from design practitioners features examples from all continents across the world.
